A really nice short hike with a great view! It is fairly steep but definitely short enough for all types of hikers to be able to enjoy! I went last week and I thought it was super cute how there were signs with the three wise men! I enjoyed seeing the different types of holiday symbolism!
I followed Google Maps and it brought me to the side of the mountain - not a parking lot. But there are a few parking lots and garages nearby so there are parking options. It was roughly 65-70 degrees last week which was perfect!
Hayden Butte Trail is right beside the Arizona State University stadium. It looks small, but it gives you a good walk up to the top. It is not too difficult and you will enjoy all the views from both city side and the river side.
Many spots to take photos with. The trail is not crowded. It is very convenient if you visit ASU for any reasons. Then walk down to Tempe Downtown to find some to eat.
On the trail, look for lizards. They are not poison, but they may want to attack you. Be careful.
A great hike up the Butte. Called A Mountain in the vernacular, it's quite steep. If it's hot out do being some water. The park is largely not wheelchair accessible. The view is great from the top and it is for sure good exercise. The hill is actually rather busy and you'll pass by some people on the way to the peak for sure.
2nd trekking for sunrise hunting in AZ 😁 not disappointed. Only car is not allowed up here but Google map took me there 😅 dedicated walking track is easy to walk for others but to me I prefer to walk out of the trails which more easier. Recommend for start your weekend with something shine and bright 😆 …
Its a good mountain called A mountain. Superb place to see beauty of Arizona from top.
Loved the place. So many things to climb over and under. Its a really nice place to see planes fly right over you on there way into deer valley Airport.
A short hike up a decent hill right in the middle of Tempe. I've rarely seen a park like this, but it's very much worth checking out. You'll get great views of the city and meet some cool folk to talk to, usually locals!
The trash and danger of the hike brings this down 1 star, but it's still a wonderful time!
Hayden Butte “A” Mountain ⛰ trail is easy, scenic, and enjoyable.
In the middle of Tempe and ASU campus you’ll find an enjoyable hike.
This trail is pet friendly.
Pro Tip: Go during the “Golden Hour” for amazing sunset 🌅 photos
Parking is limited. There’s street parking and a parking lot direct next to the trail.
